Doha, Qatar – February 27, 2016: The passion for sport can changes lives. More than 20 children from Al Khor International School had the opportunity to enjoy the Asian Champions League (ACL) in person and meet their football idols.
RasGas Company Limited (RasGas) has extended the benefits of its official ACL sponsorship under the banner of its ongoing ‘Energising Education’ campaign. As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, RasGas coordinated efforts in Qatar to give children a chance to meet their favourite footballers. Twenty-four children from Al Khor International School escorted the players of Qatar’s Lekhwiya club and Iran’s Zob Ahan club on Tuesday, 23rd February 2016, at ACL’s first match in Qatar.
“Escorting your favourite players onto the pitch for an important match is the experience of a lifetime for any young football fan,” commented Dr Ali Abdulla Al Hargan, RasGas’ Public Affairs Manager. “We are happy to bring energy to the lives of the younger generation, and we hope this can serve as an incentive to pick up sport in life.”
The Asian Champions League, or AFC Champions League, is an annual continental club football competition organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). Thirty-two clubs compete in the round robin stages, with the winner qualifying for the 2016 FIFA Club World Cup to be held in Japan.
